CREEK WINES:
Mystery Creek wines is a progessive, niche producer. Our vines are
nurtured in Horotiu sandyloam over free draining river shingle, planted on
a gentle north facing slope. The total planted area is 4 hectares.
The original Chardonnay grapes were
planted in 1993 with the first vintage harvested in 2000. Recently
Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Melbec, Cabenet Franc and
Viognier has been planted with the first harvest expected to be 2005.
ABOUT OUR WINES:
Mystery Creek Wines was awared a Gold Medal in the 2001 Liquorland Top 100
for their first vintage "Mystery Creek Barrel Fermented Chardonnay
2000", The same wine received a Silver Medal in the 2001 Royal Easter
Show and a Bronze Medal in the 2001 Air New Zealand Wine Awards. The
following year, "Mystery Creek Wines Reserve Chardonnay 2001"
was awarded a Silver Medal in the 2002 Liquorland Top 100. Most
recently, "Mystery Creek Wines Reserve Chardonnay
2002" has received a Silver Medal at the 2003 Liquorland Top
100."
